Hon. Minister Piyal Nishantha De Silva assumes duties at the State Ministry of Women and Child Development, Pre School and Primary Education, School Infrastructure and School Services.
Hon. Piyal Nishantha De Silva assumed duties as a State Minister of the present Government at the auspicious time (10 am) on 13 August 2020 at the Ministry in the Sethsiripaya Complex with the blessings of the clergy. On assuming duties, the Hon. Minister expressed his thanks to both His Excellency the President and the Prime Minister for handing over the responsibility of this Ministry to him. Further, he pointed out the importance of extending the contribution of all the parties to ensure the development of entire women and child generation. Hon. Minister stated the importance of making people aware of the duties and functions carried out by the Ministry for the development of women and children and increasing its popularity at a special meeting held with the staff. He highlighted the necessity of developing innovative strategies to address the issues faced by women and children instead of conventional methodologies. Hon. Minister further revealed his readiness to devote his full time to work with the Ministry staff to identify and solve the specific issues faced by today’s women and children. He pointed out the significance of redevising plans based on the experience gained by launching the programmes of “Ammawarune”, “Maathru Abhimani”, “Sisu Pranama Pradeepa” and “Jeister Purawesi Pranama” in Kalutara district on his concept and using these programmes as models. Hon. Minister further expressed his wish to discuss with each division of its duties and functions during the week ahead.
