National Women’s Week – March 2-5 including Cluster of all Island Programs..
In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has declared National Women’s Week to commemorate this significant occasion.
The official theme for this year’s Women’s Day is:
"Strong she will be a pathway to build a sustainable future."
From March 2 to March 8, a series of island wide programs will be conducted, focusing on women’s health, awareness, safety, empowerment, and technological advancement. These initiatives are designed to promote women’s well-being and strengthen their contributions to national development.
Programs will be conducted to enhance women’s participation in the national economy, focusing on developing entrepreneurial knowledge, skills, and attitudes for small and medium-scale women entrepreneurs. Providing access to the digital economy to strengthen women's businesses and economic participation.
Implementing programs to increase women’s participation in the job market, introduce new employment opportunities, and provide career guidance and vocational training for school leavers. Establishing workplace structures to ensure a violence-free and satisfactory professional environment for women.
Organizing health clinics, awareness sessions, and counseling programs for women’s well-being.
Promoting women’s role in environmental sustainability by cultivating a positive mindset for future generations. Implementing social programs and community-based clean-up initiatives to protect women and future generations from the dangers of substance abuse.
Conducting interactive and engaging programs for women’s organizations and their families to promote family unity and happiness.
The National Celebration of International Women’s Day 2025 will be held at Suhurupaya, Battaramulla, under the patronage of the Honorable Prime Minister.
Raising awareness about national and international laws and institutional support systems related to women and girls, such as Helpline services (1929 and 1938). Conducting programs to enhance women’s leadership skills and their ability to take on decision-making roles.
