The International Women's Day celebration organized by the Ministry of Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment under the theme "Empowered Women-Prosperous Nation" was held on 08.03.2024 on a grand scale at the Waters Edge, Battaramulla under the patronage of Hon. Ranil Wickramasinghe, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka at the invitation of Hon. Geetha Samanmali Kumarasinghe, State Minister of Women and Child Affairs.

Distribution of 05 three wheelers and 05 computers to 5 selected women's centers, awarding 03 scholarships at Rs. 150,000 each by the Forever Company, awarding Samurdhi loan certificates and gifts were included in this event.

Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment Mr. Manusha Nanayakkara, Hon. State Minister of  Health, Dr. Seetha Arambepola, Hon. State Minister of Social Empowerment Mr. Anupa Pasqual , Hon. Member of Parliament Mr. Vajira Abeywardena, Chairperson of Forever (Pvt.) Ltd. Mrs. Chandani Bandara, Ministry Secretaries, District Secretaries, Ambassadors, Heads of Government and Non-Governmental Institutions and local and foreign representatives  participated in this celebration.
